Rules of the road general rules 1. The minimum requirement for posting is one paragraph, four lines. Don't just make a thread with one line, it doesn't give the other poster anything to work with and is a good way to get a thread killed. 2. Please write all posts in third person. No 'I' or 'Me' in your replies. 3. Please be polite to each other. Do not spam or flame another player. If you have a problem with another player, then please pm Rebel or another of the staff so they can help you take care of the problem. 4. Please do not power-play another person's character. This is a really annoying complaint to get from people since it's easy to avoid doing. Power-playing is where you write the other person's character. If this does happen to one of your characters, please try to politely handle the situation yourself. If that doesn't work, then just e-mail or pm Rebel or another staff member and they'll help you out. 5. Please try to stay as much in character as possible. This is a roleplay based off an anime where the nations are personified upon country stereotypes (except we are using Micronations, which are blends) so please keep that in mind when making your characters. Don't give your characters weird powers like mind-reading or telekinesis. If you create a character with such an ability, you will be asked to change it. 6. If you're characters get into fights, and they're allowed to, please be prepared to take responsibility for your actions. Don't expect to do something wrong and not get a reprimand, that's unrealistic. 7. Be prepared for anything, and we mean anything to happen. Cause here at Forgotten Children, things can and will happen that no one would ever suspect. So if things don't turn out the way you want them, please don't complain. Rebel and the Admins put a lot of time and effort into this, so please don't be rude. Basically; if you don't like something we do, talk to us, don't just complain. After all, we're mostly all mature people here. upon joining 1. Please brush up on the rules and history of Forgotten Children, it does help! (We promise!) 2. Please ask any questions or post any comments you need to in our guest help desk! It's there and constantly monitored, so expect a quick response. 3. Go ahead and look up our Character Rules (listed below) and get started on your first character! Following the guidelines there will help streamline the process and will more than likely shorten the time it takes to get your character approved. Check for grammatical errors, make sure the timeline is adhered to, and ask questions when needed! 4. Once your character is approved, you may begin posting IC with us! Please make sure not to post in any of the forums related to the actual play before your characters are approved as this is a huge no. 5. For countries or micronations, please also check to make sure that the one you want to make is available. The availability thread is easily located on the left-hand side under 'important links'. Also, if the Country or Micronation you choose is a canon one in the series, you will need to include an example post attached to your bio-sheet. out of character 1. Be respectful of all fellow players regardless of what happens. If there are any problems with a certain player, please report it to an admin. 2. Disrespect toward any admin will be severely punished. We are very lenient in many things, and we will listen to your case if you want to make it, but blatant disrespect or insubordination will be punished by banning, no questions asked. You have been warned. 3. Please note that sometimes the chat box can get out of hand. We don't judge too heavily on the content there, but if there is a problem with what is being said, please PM an admin asking them to let it be known that what is being said needs to be toned down. Excessive cussing and pornography is also heavily looked down upon. 4. An Admin's words are final in all matters! 5. Flaming, begging, nagging, threatening, impersonating, etc... Of another player is strictly prohibited, especially in the chat box but out of it as well. 6. While Forgotten Children is a literate, third person game, we do not require 1000 word posts. We do prohibit one liner's, and would prefer posts to be at least two paragraphs though. 7. A list or outline of your characters must be in your signature and kept updated, as well as being linked to the characters' profiles. The admins will not do this for you. 8. God-Moding (This means using another person's character, making your own character perfect and invulnerable, or putting another character in a situation that they have no other choice than doing what you wanted them to) is also strictly prohibited here. 9. Anything and anyone deemed 'cheating' or 'rigging' by the admin team will be severely punished. It's unethical and is not allowed. in character 1. L33t, Chatspeak, and improper grammar are frowned upon. Do NOT use any of these in your posts. 2. No randomly killing off your characters, because that is not very mature and frowned upon in most polite societies. 3. No one line responses IC, Godmoding, Cookie-Cutter / Mary Sue characters, major plots created without approval, etc. These are all bad and will not be approved of here. character rules [overall] 1. Please make sure that your characters are, first of all, human. Though not a canon roleplay site, we do adhere to the fact that our countries are, indeed, human. This means no half-dragon, godlings, or purple-people. 2. Try to remain original while sticking to what is common for Earth. Twins, redheads, green eyes, redheads with green eyes, and perfect people are considered extremely rare, so make sure giving a character such genetics makes sense for the country before giving them to a character. 3. Stay canon to the country's demographics too! Characters in Asia will not be white, same with Africans, characters in Oceania (save NZ and Australia), and everyone south of North America. Seriously. Just. Look at the demographics for the territory your micronation has and make it accurate. If 70% of the populace is an indigenous native- your character better not be white. 4. Unless your character's country has heavy magic influence, or you play a micronation from: Norway, Romania, or England- NO character may have usable magic. The only exceptions are- again- if their culture is heavily influenced from magic. An you better show examples to us. (We are more lenient with old nations and culture ocs than new nations.) If you want your character to have magic- you may buy that ability from the store. 5. Characters may only have domesticated pets at the start, unless they canonly have a non domesticated pet or it was passed down to them from an old nation. If you desire a non domesticated pet- feel free to purchase it at the shop. 6. Any character deemed inactive will be moved to the Inactive forum for two months, then moved to the adoptable forum. If the player of said character comes back and wishes to pick up their character, they will only be able to do so if another person has not taken on that character. 7. Character Numbers :
character rules [micronations + countries] 1. Try to keep them as in character as possible. Yes, these personifications are based on the stereotypes of their country, but it is helpful to do a little research into why those stereotypes exist. Stereotypes exist for a reason. 2. Knowing the history of a micronation will be helpful as well. We don’t expect you to know their history backwards and forwards (though if you wish to do this more power to you), but we will expect you to have a good grasp on their history. 3. When picking a human name for your Micronation, please give them a name that suits their heritage. For example, Spain’s name is Antonio, a very common Spanish name. England’s is Arthur, a very common English name. Obviously, if you take up a canon character who already has a human name, this does not apply. 4. So, for those Hetalia fans that join us, I realize that sometimes we form our own ideas about certain characters. Please, if you put in a headcanon, back it up with history or make sure it is established in the series. If historical and established headcanons differ, then you can choose one but again back it up. Also if you disagree with someone’s idea, . You are allowed to not like it but please be polite. 5. Also! Seeing as there are so little micronations for certain areas, (see: Africa, Central Asia, Oceania, and South America), if you ask we'd most likely allow you to make a totally original 'not technical micronation' new nation/culture in one of those regions! activity rules 1. Activity checks will occur regularly every two months and last two weeks, and require a simple post saying 'I'm here' to make sure your characters are kept as yours. Any person who skips two activity checks will be deleted from the forum. 2. Activity varies between people and as such there will be no daily requirement, but we will keep an eye on people, which will affect their rankings, possibly rewards, and even what (possibly) happens their characters. 3. Inactive players with plot-important characters will have those characters suspended until such time as they prove fit to take up those characters again. This means active posts with said character are a must unless otherwise noted. A suspension will be put in place when any Inactivity is noticed, and if the player is inactive for over a month, any such character will be put in the inactive forum, then into the NPC forum (unless the Admins wish to adopt that character out.) 4. Players are put on 'probation' if not seen for a minimum of two weeks without warning. MADE BY KIROUKO OF GANGNAM-STYLE |
